The Pakistan NRL Two-Stage Distillation Unit Revamp Project (hereinafter referred to as the TSDU Project), is designed to revamp the old CDU&VDU unit that has been in operation for 54 years. Due to the extremely tighten space, aging equipment, and densely-distributed old pipes, great inconvenience is brought to execute the work.
Since the unit was shut down on 21st Nov. 2019, the site has entered the full construction stage. On 2nd Dec. 2019, with the energic involvement of construction, a new key starting point of installation came after the official shut-down, that is the 500t ring rail type crawler crane has been assembled and well prepared for heavy lifting. On-site, Owner, Hualu Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hualu”) and China National Chemical Engineering Sixth Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter as SCC) jointly held the launching ceremony for the start of heavy lifting. After the Project Manager of Hualu officially announced that the main crane was officially put into use, the on-site lifting immediately showed the amazing “Speed of Hualu”:

The successful dismantling and erection of the above air cooling tower tube bundle, C51 Preflashing Tower, old F02 furnace, new F51 radiation section, and F01's old convection section marks a new stage of the erection of on-site equipment and industrial furnaces, laying a solid foundation for subsequent installation.
Such an efficient construction progress is inseparable from the sufficient and thorough planning, pragmatic and effective preparation and the diligent management of all staff in the early stage of the project team of Hualu In order to dismantle/erect towers and industrial furnaces smoothly, since September, Hualu project team and SCC team have tracked the mobilization status of the main crane in real time, repeatedly studied the crane position and foundation treatment scheme, and organized a special meeting on dismantling/erection of the heating furnace, so as to ensure safe and fast equipment lifting.
In order to reduce the procurement and construction period in the distribution room revamp, the project team proposed the e-house plan of adopting modular distribution rooms, which greatly reduced the period risk of the substation. In order to reduce the time required for the disassembly of internal parts and the erection of internal and external scaffolding of the vacuum tower C03, with the help of its experienced overhaul team, the project team made full use of the large-scale overhaul by the Owner at the same time, and finally completed the disassembly of the internal parts of the tower on schedule, and completed the scaffold erection task 5 days in advance. We and the Owner are one team and pursue one goal!
While making rapid progress on site, the project team invited the Owner’s Special Project Department, HSE Department, and Fire Department to organize the activity of NRL & HUALU Training Day. During the activity, we introduced to the frontline workers the hazards of the Project, the importance of wearing personal protective equipment correctly, and the risk points when the revamp construction and other maintenance activities are carried out at the same time. This effectively improves the ideological understanding and technical defense capabilities of the construction personnel, actively promotes the advanced HSE management concept of Hualu, and enhances the company's popularity and influence in NRL.
At the end of the year, under the mobilization of "90 days of hard work" of the company, the team of the TSDU Project will remember its original intention, and continue to move forward with a forward-looking and high-spirited attitude.
